2010 Christmas Card

A few years back we did Christmas Cards that included a picture of Josh. They cost about the same as the regular cards so we thought why not?? The family went nuts!! They loved them so much, and I vowed to always do photo cards from that moment on. Skip ahead a few years and I have yet to do another photocard. When I heard about the Shutterfly promotion to blog about Chrstmas cards in order to got 50 free cards, I jumped at the opportunity! This year we are having a Christmas get together at our church where we all exchange cards. Instead of paying 50 cents to mail them, we donate 25 cents per card and give that money to one of our missionaries that might have a special need. Isn't that cool???? I am so looking forward to using Shutterfly for our cards this year. I can't wait to find the perfect picture! Thanks Shutterfly so much for this promotion, it was a HUGE blessing for our family. I just heard that there will be another round of Super Doubles again on 9/15 at Harris Teeter!!!! Hopefully this is not a rumor, but it seems to come from some pretty reliable sources!!
Wonder why they aren't having triples any more? Oh well, I'll take it!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles 8/11?

I post this with caution, but there seems to be a lot more confirmation than on previous rumors. Lots of store managers have said that there WILL be a Super Doubles event 8/11-8/17! YAY! My stockpile has really been running low! I will post a 100% confirmation once someone has seen a printed ad.

Harris Teeter Kellogg Deal ***UPDATE***

Right now at Harris Teeter if you buy 10 Kelloggs items you will get a 10.00 coupon on your next order! They have most Kellogg products 1/2 price this week too. Pop-tarts were1.09 and cereal was around 1.50. Make sure to buy 10 and also make sure that your cashier gives you the coupon from the coupon machine that will print with your receipt. Good time to stock up on breakfast items!

***Update*** This deal will roll!! I used my 10.00 off coupon today to go buy more Kellogg items. I bought 7 boxes of pop-tarts and 3 boxes of cereal for 1.40!!! I then got ANOTHER 10.00 off coupon from the machine YAY! Might have to roll that one tomorrow : )

They are 1.99 with card then you get 1.00 in reward bucks back. There was a coupon in last Sundays paper for 1.00 off making them free! School Supply Deals!!!

Before I started looking for deals and couponing, I would always just get Josh's school supplies at Wal-mart, I assumed it was the cheapest. Boy was I wrong! Today I went to Walgreens and got 22.00 worth of stuff for about 3.50!!! The BIC Highlighter 5 packs were .49, Pilot G2 pens were .19 with a store coupon (they had them at the register)! We then went to Staples where the BIC grip mechanical pencils were .25, notebooks .25 and composition notebooks were .79! You could also get glue for a penny if you spent 5.00. We had a pile of stuff and only spent 2.75 so I just let it go, glue was not on the supply list. This is also a good time to stock up on things to donate there are always school supply drives this time of year!

No Triples 7/21 : (

Uggghhhhh!! I hate it when rumors get started. There will be no Triples at Harris Teeter next week. From now on, I will wait until someone has actually SEEN the ad to post. Sorry!

Get Started with CVS!

My favorite store to shop at now is CVS. I have saved so much money there and cannot believe I ever paid for things like body wash, toothpaste and deodorant!! Getting started is very easy and here's how!

1. Get a CVS card. You can get these at the cash register at any CVS store. The one in Boone is located right next to Ingles with a new one being built right across from Walgreens.

2. Once you get your CVS card you are ready to map out a deal plan. Certain items each week at CVS earn "extra care bucks", I will refer to them as ECBs. When you buy these items these ECB coupons will print at the bottom of your receipt. DO NOT LOOSE THESE. They will work just like cash on your next transaction. On your first transaction you will have to spend some out of pocket money to get your extra bucks going, but after that you will not have to spend that much of your own money at all because you will be using the ECBs you earned previously!!!

3. Decide which items you want to buy by checking the links on this blog, or the local ad which should be in the Sunday paper. See if you have coupons for those items, because that makes the deal even sweeter. CVS is wonderful about coupons. They even have a huge coupon printer when you walk in to scan your CVS card and get coupons!

So basically, you will make your initial purchase to earn bucks, then you will use those bucks to buy more things that earn bucks each week. . . . and just keep them rolling! Some weeks there aren't great deals so you might have to buy some things that you don't want or need, but you will need to keep the extra bucks rolling to save the max amount of money. You can always donate the items to a shelter, church, nursing home, etc.

It seems a little confusing at first, but after you make your first purchase and get comfortable with it, it is so easy and FUN!
